Energy Efficiency Ratings

By virtue of its composition, a concrete tile roof absorbs less of the sun's energy. In addition, the oxide used in our facilities to create our beautiful colors further enhance the tile's surface.
Listed with the Cool Roof Rating Council, these roofs can reflect more sunlight and less heat, which can reduce energy usage and costs. Regardless of shape or color, a concrete tile roof is one of the most effective and popular energy-efficient roofing materials available.

Staggered Installation Considerations

Achieving an 'Old World' aesthetic for your home is as easy as using flat tiles with a staggered exposure during installation. While these tiles seamlessly enhance architectural styles like English Cottage and French Country, and their unique appeal can also breathe new life into homes of diverse designs, here are some things to consider.

Ensure to plan the entire roof layout

The roofing contractor must carefully plan the entire roof layout before installing tiles, considering factors like weight and waste.
For a staggered roof, about half of the tiles have a shorter exposure. It’s crucial to calculate the extra tiles needed before ordering. Whether using battens or not, accurate measurements are vital when prepping the roof. The first course is standard, while the staggered exposure starts from the second course.

The water channel at the left side of the tile is visible

Another aspect to consider is the water channel on the left side of the tile. The bottom part of this channel will be visible, and leaving it exposed can take away from the intended appearance of the staggered roof.
This is particularly relevant on steep roof pitches where most of each tile’s face is visible. If needed, the visible channel can be eliminated using a saw or tile nippers.
Note: While staggered installations offer an appealing look, they can be highly intricate and potentially lead to layout and waterproofing challenges. The Roofing Contractor bears the ultimate responsibility for planning and executing the tile installation correctly.

Tile. Durable, elite defense.

More Diversity!

  • Gone are the days of solely “round and red” real tile roofs. Nowadays, they are accessible in a wide range of shapes and hues.

Exclusively natural materials utilized

  • Concrete tile roofs are crafted using exclusively natural ingredients such as sand, cement, water, and oxide.
  • These roofs are both recyclable and biodegradable once they reach the end of their usable life.
  • Contrary to other materials, tile roofs are not composed of plastic, resin, rubber, or metal, and remain resilient against warping, rusting, and bending.

Heftier and built to last.

  • Tile roofs outweigh asphalt shingles, a characteristic that translates to a longer lifespan, superior thermal performance, resilience to weather conditions, resistance to impact, and many other benefits.

Equipped to withstand severe weather phenomena.

  • Tile roofs are designed to endure the harshest weather conditions, unlike asphalt shingle manufacturers who factor in annual roof replacements in their sales forecasts.
  • These roofs can brave continuous winds with speeds reaching up to 180 mph.
  • They meet the criteria for a Class A Roof Assembly and have passed hail and impact tests in specific regions.
  • Moreover, they can withstand freeze-thaw cycles, except for those with color bonded or slurry tiles.

Asphalt Shingle. Short-term, fundamental shelter.

Asphalt Shingles are not distinctive.

Unfriendly to the Environment.

  • Asphalt shingles do not favor the environment due to their petroleum-based composition, which also contributes significantly to landfill waste.

Inadequate performance in hail storms.

  • Asphalt shingles fail to hold up well under hail storm conditions, often necessitating roof repairs even after mild hail events, as roofers flock to affected neighborhoods.

Lacking Durability.

  • Synthetics and plastic materials do not have a demonstrated history of being durable and enduring when used in roofing products.

Prone to Damage from Strong Winds.

  • As they age, dry out, lose granules, and develop cracks, asphalt shingles become increasingly vulnerable to damage from high winds.

Unable to Withstand Severe Temperature Fluctuations.

  • Asphalt shingles are ill-equipped to cope with substantial temperature shifts, which can lead to cracking and fading.
  • This is largely due to their reliance on temporarily adhered granules that can easily become detached.
Note: Installation techniques proven to resist wind speeds of up to 180mph are available for high-wind circumstances.
